CHANEL 2009 Fall Collection – Vote “heads up” or “thumbs down”?
This is something out of the ordinary from Karl this year! I am not sure if he is experimenting to see if people are going to love it or hate it but the collection is definitely not done in a CHANEL classic style that we all know it to be. Do you think new CHANEL Fall Collection 2009 is "heads up" or "thumbs down"?
Do we like the fish tails, extensions for skirts with unproportional three layer dresses or do we still like the classic suit with the button down jackets and knee length skirts made out of the thick colorful tweed material with logo CC on the buttons?
I haven't even mentioned anything about the accessories but they are definitely a MUST SEE & believe the plastic case for your CHANEL 255 classic handbag (called after Coco Chanel first designed it in February 1955). Lets just say I am not ready to put up my Classic on the wall as a picture in the frame. Thoughts please?
All About Hermes Birkin Bag

Hermes is one of the oldest elite designer brand names existent for over 170 years. Its luxurious leather goods have an exquisite reputation & brand name which considered as one of the most desirable accessories in the history of the fashion world. Every woman that is into high fashion would love to have at least one piece of Hermes collection. The MUST have bag on everybody's list is Birkin bag. Its not only look & prestige of this incredible handbag, it's the craftsmanship and texture of the animal skins that are used to make one bag.
It took a flight encounter from Paris to London in 1984 to create an amazing hand bag. Jane Birkin sat right next to Jean-Louis Dumas, CEO of Hermes on that flight & accidentally dropped her handbag on the floor. It was one reason why they initiated a conversation about what she would like to have in an everyday handbag in order to make it an ideal one. As a result, Dumas has created one especially for her & sent it to her flat in Paris.
What it takes to make one Birkin bag? It takes about 30-40 hours to make one handbag depending on its size and there are only 5 that are made each week. The most expensive bag is made of saltwater crocodile skin & its inside lining - out of the goat skin to match the color of the exterior of the bag. Bag can be special ordered but only by exclusive clients who can submit their orders through Paris office twice a year. Hermes picks out the colors & certain skins to use for their collections as well as they can decide to discontinue them without any notice to their clients. All locks & keys are made out of gold & some other previous metals besides silver to avoid tarnishing.

Because of its exclusive quality, Birkin bag has a price tag of approximately $7,500 depending on the size & leather. Some of them go up to six figures & there are always buyers out there. If you have a Birkin in your closet, it adds you in the list of some biggest celebrities, socialites & famous people of the world like Carla Bruni, First lady of France, Cristina Kirchner, President of Argentina, Martha Stewart, Oprah Winfrey and others. Most of the famous TV shows like Sex & the City, Will & Grace, Gilmore Girls & Gossip Girl bring up Birkin in their episodes. I read at Stylelist.com that Victoria Beckham owns about 200 of these exclusive purses all range in color, size & leather quality & one of them was auctioned off at $120,000 all embellished in 10 carats of diamonds.

Have you gone to shop at this unique online Boutique Fashion Republik? It presents the world of middle eastern designers from Lebanon, UAE and other Middle Eastern countries with the central location in London. One of the unique things about it is that all of the items can be customized & made especially for you.

For example, you can order a handbag with your name on the buckle or a necklace with your loved one's name. Fashion Republik also sells wide selection of clothing for women, men, kids, maternity, shoes, bag accessories and other stuff. Founder of this wonderful website is Nadine Fares Kahil who wants to show the world that there is more to Middle East than just wars and violence, there are people who like their work & approach it with passion to create amazing clothing and accessories for others to buy & enjoy.
When I first got introduced to this new website, I noticed that it has some neat stuff especially I noticed Story Girl page with small bags & clutches. They are different and unique in their own kind & present a fun, hip look for any fashionista. I think Valentina clutch is my favorite, little leather hearts invisibly connected to each other give this clutch an unusual look, I am sure it would be something people will pay attention to especially if its in Electric Fuchsia or Beige colors.

The Scarf World of Mine

Scarf is the most important accessory in my everyday wardrobe. I bring it along with me to work, to brunch, to dinner, to a morning walk, even when I am traveling. I also tie it around the handle of my handbag, but of course, only the one that matches it in color. You do not want to overdo with adding scarf made out of bulky material, it will only look tackie & tasteless. Play around with matching your scarf to outfits first.
Scarf is something that adds creativity to any outfit by adding unique splash of color. Any scarf can be worn during winter and summer, basically during all seasons, because of its great soft feel & non-heavy material. I prefer to wear more bright colors in the summer & more natural & easy colors during the winter. My favorite one would be a light sheer scarf in white color which gathers all around the neck as a princess stand up collar, its hard to find one but I did, in one of the small boutiques in NYC.
For great scarves, you should refer to Forever21, they have an amazing collection & prices that you cannot beat!

My Introduction to Coco Chanel
Just to start, I want to talk a little bit about myself. I have developed my sense of style mainly from my mother who is an extreme devotee of Coco Chanel and her successor Karl Lagerfeld. She introduced me to the world of classic handbags, CC jewelry and extraordinary clothing patterns & designs of her tailored suits. How can we forget about Coco Chanel’s “little black dress” & what it meant for the world of couture fashion. My first Chanel introduction was a small black quilted pouch which was given to me at the age of 16. To this day, I wear it as an evening bag, how can you beat that!
In my opinion, every individual has an idea of what they like to buy, what fits them best, what is on their list of ‘must haves of the season” regardless of the current fashions but we should all agree, there are some classic pieces in your closet that are priceless, chic & irreplaceable. I always thought that classic, simple look will beat the trendy & so-called “quick departure” style of the season. That is why keeping that “black dress” in your closet and mixing it up with seasonal fashions can be a “win/win” situation for your daily wardrobe.
If you look in your closet, do you consider yourself a classy/chic, funky/casual or more sexy/outbeat? What makes you choose the clothes that you do, did you ever think of that? I believe its the influence that you get from the surroundings and the people that are close to you... Who or what do you think was influence on your fashion sense? Who was your fashion guru? Please share it with us.
