Its Finally Here – NYC’s Fashionista University
Have you ever wished you attended a class in college where you can learn about new fashion trends, how to start your own fashion business, be successful designer and make people love your products? It is possible now with the newly opened Fashionista University. I have to say I am thrilled since this is an opportunity for anybody to be able to explorer the world of fashion and become a professional with the valid "fashionista". Its “a whole new kind of education for the up-and-coming trendsetters of the fashion world will begin this January for middle-school through college-aged students”.

Classes are offered on Saturdays only, during the seven week period, which is perfect if you are attending other classes or different school during the week. You will be able to “learn the ins and outs of the fashion business including design, publicity, wardrobe styling/costume design, event planning, jewelry/accessory design and more”. University is supervised by Kathlin Argiro, Courtney Zellmer, publicity guru Gwen Wunderlich-Smith who help teens “turn their dreams into a reality and break in to the world of fashion with opportunities and experiences beyond anything they ever imagined”. It sounds very trigging and I am sure it will attract the young crowd. Winter semester starts on Saturday, January 16, 2010 & flows into Spring Semester which is featuring additional courses on March 20, 2010.
Sample Courses
• Fashion Design 101 - Over the seven-week course students will get a firsthand account of running a small business in the fashion industry from designers Argiro and Zellmer. Students will learn how to create a collection from start to finish - from inspiration to presentation and everything in between using examples from Kathlin's own collection, high-profile guest speakers, and actually take steps toward creating their own line. Students will learn about fabrics and how to use them, color stories, sketching basic fashion figures, story boards and presenting a collection to learn more about themselves as first time designers.
• P.R. Prep 101 - Fashionistas who are on top of the latest trends and are interested in being a part of the buzz, glitz and glamour are perfect for this crash course in the exciting field of public relations. Wunderlich of Wunderlich Inc. will help students begin their journey to becoming the next "it" publicist by sharing her expertise in the field, including her background of starting her own company from the ground up. Throughout the seven weeks, Gwen will introduce different aspects of the business that will help each student develop their PR skills and teach them the necessity of being connected. Students can expect field trips to the city's hottest spots including a trip to the fashionista holy land - New York Fashion Week.
Artisanal’s Couture Breakthrough Collection

Maison Martin Margiela Artisanal is one of the names which is usually not on the pages of magazines or seen during fahion week. Its a couture collection which is truly a piece of art and presents more than just a clothing line. This designer has been established since 1989 but we certain wish we knew about him before. Some of his pieces more costume-like but the execution is extraordinary, its an eye candy for the ones appreciating the couture creations and thrive on breakthrough performances. "Long known for his penchant for recycling, Margiela used throwaway garments such as old jeans, shredded them and turned the result into a cascade of fringes on a one-legged jumpsuit." Maison Martin Margiela Artisanalis eco-friendly designer whose craftsmanship is now available for the first time exclusively on yoox.com.

Philippe Tournaire’s House Rings
Rings are arranged in different shapes, have diamonds and other precious stones incorporated either as a little round tower or square shaped pool. If you try to look at them closer on the website, you will see windows, stairs, and even actual rooms from inside out. How about a little part of a city with streets and buildings? These are so much fun, check them out on the website. They are a bit pricey but I guess idea really counts.

Neiman Marcus Spring 2010 Accessories Preview
- Dresses & Platform Shoe by Rodarte Spring 2010 Collection
- A studded Balmain purse from the Spring 2010 Collection
I could not let it go unnoticed, that is why I decided to share this preview of Spring 2010 Accessories from Neiman Marcus. Current economic struggle, not only in the financial industry but also in retail, has made everybody work extra hard, especially designers who need to put an extra effort and try to create something new, fresh, eye-catching and extraordinary. I agree that most of the designers need to try hard to get in line with extravagant Rodarte, chis & hip Alexander Wang, breathtaking Balmain, newly reestablished YSL & of course, on top of them all is always classic Chanel. Neiman Marcus is one of the high end retail stores who is very picky about who they will display in their stores for the new Spring 2010 season therefore we might want to make a note of these fashion industry leaders.

If You in Need of some Arm Coverage

Leather boots has gotten the longest highs in recent seasons. Meaning they have risen above the knee to resemble the actual leather pants. The gloves have gotten their length as well but I haven’t seen these on the runways yet. Having gloves cover your entire arm is a possibility for a tank top duo or even a short sleeveless dress. Shopbop is giving you brief description of this item & proposing a "the perfect match for a short-sleeve jacket". On top of it all, they are "fingerless, distressed leather gloves feature seam details throughout and a double-button closure at the wrist, 22" long". It must be some interesting trend for the price of $312.00.
